Welcome to the Vietnam Artists WebGuild

Ok it's just a crazy idea, but a lot of good things start this way. I met a number of very talented, very friendly artists when I was in Vietnam and I thought it might be interesting to see what happened if we started posting and sharing their work - for discussion, critique, and sale - in a blog. At least for now it's free, and posting with Picasa couldn't be easier.

If you're an artist, and you're interested in joining, just send me an email and I can add you to the publisher list. At least to get started, everything is FREE!

Publishing Instructions

To publish, I recommend using Picasa. It's free, and very easy to use for cropping and other basic photo edits. It organizes your photos, and lets you post them with just a couple of clicks.

Once you've installed Picasa, then you need to sign up for a Hello! Account. Don't worry, that's free too. Click on a photo in Picasa, then click the "Hello" button at the bottom. It will walk you right through the whole process.

Finally, (or primarily) you need a blogspot account. Click the "Get your own blog" link at the top of this page for that. Once you get it all set up, you'll be able to pick a photo in Picasa, click "Hello" and with a couple more clicks the photo will be posted on the web.

Posting Guidelines

If you're going to post your artwork, post with as much detail as possible. 2 to 3 megapixel images are good. They must be cropped so that only the ARTWORK is in the photo. We don't want to see anybody's paint covered easel of floor. And put a comment telling the following information:

• The NAME of the artist
  
• The TITLE of the artwork
  
• The DATE it was created
  
• The MEDIA used (i.e. Oil on Canvas)
  
• The DIMENSIONS (180 cm x 180 cm)
  
• A PRICE if it's for sale. Prices should be in VND.
  
• Any additional information, like the location where it was painted, a poem, etc.
